Hidden in Plain Sight

Curated by Carolyn Sickles.
September 13–October 5, 2014

Opening Reception: Saturday, September 13, 6pm–9pm

Projekt722

722 Metropolitan Ave, Fl 2Brooklyn, NY 11211

Artists: Elizabeth Boyle, Kati Gegenheimer, Audrey Hope, Kyoung eun Kang, Karen Ostrom, Brigitta Varadi.

Opening Reception: Saturday, September 13, 6pm–9pm

Embarking on a quest to rediscover wonder usually ends in cavernous spaces still echoing whispers from pioneers long gone. This group exhibition tenderly confronts transformation and withstands the lure of predisposed role play. Each participating artist embraces intimacy while unapologetically evoking viewers into having an exchange with their concealed selves. Works include seductive ink blots, mermaid encounters, and operatic arias drifting between lighthouses.

Sewing Seeds is proud to announce the Sewing Seeds Artist in Residence for 2014:

Brigitta Varadi, a Hungarian-born, Brooklyn-based artist incorporates textile processes such as dyeing, felting, and sculptural manipulation into her practice. During her residency with TAC, Brigitta plans on constructing a site-specific installation for the Green Acres Garden  involving various light-sensitive felted and naturally dyed banners and running lines. We are very excited to have her with us and hope that you are there to join us with the completion of her project at the end of the summer.

TRADE 2011 art residency programme

TRADE  2011 art residency programme
2011 residency programme where two Roscommon and two Leitrim artists are working with New York based artist David Michalek over the course of the year concluding with the TRADE seminar in 1-3 December 2011, DOCK Arts Centre, Carrick on Shannon.
TRADE is a collaborative visual arts programme between Leitrim and Roscommon County Councils providing knowledge, resources and opportunities for visual artists to engage internationally. Rather than considering ‘rural’ as ‘isolationary’, TRADE emphasises that art is a global construct and encourages a freeflow of ideas and opportunities both for local artists to engage internationally as well as for international artists to participate locally.
Talk About Fracking Exhibition:2nd-6th December 2011, ercantile Plaza, Carrick on Shannon opened by Declan McGonagle, Director of the National Collage of Art and Design
